Yes, I've gone and done it again!!! A NEW and improved website once again! I know it seems like yesterday that my first site was up and running, but in the world of photography it's all about new and fresh. So, here I am again and although I still have more exciting features to add here it is for the world to see.

Chris & Rae Lynn's Engagement

Chris is an important person in my life and my son's life. Chris is my son's life group leader, the man who leads him and his 9th grade male friends through the challenges of being a christian teenage in this difficult world. He's a rather important person in his life, I'd say. In the short time Ryan has known him he has had a huge influence on both his spiritual life as well as his growth and maturity into manhood.

Rae Lynn is a leader in middle school and is on staff at our church. Over the last few years I have had the privilege of watching her lead these kids with her amazing ability of making people laugh. She has this infectious personality, to be around her is pure joy - always. When it hit me that these two phenomenal people not only found each other but had fallen madly in love, I was so ecstatic, almost giddy! This is the first of two engagement shoots and I had the BEST time spending the day with them in beautiful Laguna Beach by the Montage Hotel. Chris and Rae Lynn, I am so excited for you both!! The best is yet to come!

Carrie's Pregnancy Shoot

I was expecting it to be something special because this lovely friend of mine is so very beautiful. Pregnant with her 2nd child, a child she was trying to conceive for over 4 years and is in all ways a miracle baby, I knew it was going to be different. Why? Because we have been talking about it for years and years. When I get pregnant with our second child you and only you are going to do my pregnancy photos, she would tell me time and time again. I was excited because I had never done them before and had always wanted to. So, finally the day came and let's just say everything was lined up perfectly for it to be the most beautiful, elegant, goose-bump invoking photo shoot ever. I wish for her a beautiful, healthy baby boy who will be born sometime around the end of December. May God watch over him always!

The funny things that happen at weddings

Well, I can honestly say that this isn't something I see every day! It was random, spontaneous, and I absolutely loved it!!! Two ladies at a wedding, smoking their cigars. It was priceless. Oh, those moments that happen that you are least expected. The joy of wedding photography is to expect the unexpected!!!!!

Goodness gracious, I have been gone for a long, long, time!!!!! That's crazy and you all must think I haven't been doing much of anything but the truth is I have been doing too much!!!! "Young Guns"

It's official. My kids have fallen in love with photography! I had no idea it was going to hit them so hard, so quickly! Of all the shoots to be their first, this one was THE one to get their juices flowing. An appropriate comparison would be having your first steak dinner at Morton's Steak House versus Sizzler. If you start at the top there's no where to go except up, up and up. Now remember that my son is 14 and in my mind (obviously complete denial) he has no interest in girls whatsoever. HA!!!! Was I ever wrong!!!! Then I remembered being 14 and completely boy crazy and as soon as this all started I realized that he was living a fantasy come true. When I first asked him to assist us in shooting he gave me this answer like I was asking him to go stand in front of a moving truck. However, when I casually added that we would be shooting 4 very lovely 15-year old girls he just turned to me and said, "ok, I'll go!" Funny how you can so easily persuade a 14 year old boy to do something, isn't it. It wasn't just the girls that did it for him, I think he truly saw the magic that we all feel when we shoot. It's indescribable really, it's the ultimate high in my opinion to create something special that you KNOW the person will treasure for the rest of their life. My daughter loved it as well, maybe not as much as her brother but between the two of them I think everyone should look out because my two YOUNG GUNS are on their way to the top!!!!! Here are a few favorites.............

Finding lost friends

The world wide web, with all it's downfalls, can sometimes be a place where lost friends find each other. So was the case a few months ago when I found a very dear friend on Facebook. After a few month we were able to get together and I asked her if I could shoot her in her native clothing as she is from India and have always loved the beautiful sari's she has worn from time to time. Poonam is a beautiful person, inside and out and seeing her again was wonderful. She hadn't changed one bit although we hadn't seen each other for almost 10 years, must be good living!!!! Here are just a few of the beautiful images captured that day. Friends are a precious thing, it's always such a gift to get one back that you thought was lost!!!

I have been anticipating the release of the book, "Fast Track Photographer" for quite some time. Not because I know the caliber of Dane Sanders, the photographer, which is highly accomplished but I also have gotten to know Dane Sanders, the man. He's brilliant, fascinating to listen to, has a heart of gold and is truly passionate about making a difference in people's lives. Honestly, I would read any book he would publish but this one happens to be about something "I" am passionate about as well and am very excited about the impact this book is going to make in the photography world. Since the book hasn't arrived yet I have been reading it in .pdf format and it's SO good. When the hard copy arrives, trust me......it will be my constant companion and will probably read it a dozen times. If you are at all interested in making it in the world of wedding photography, this is the best investment you could make in giving yourself the tools needed to get started. Free To Succeed

I truly don't know where to begin with this one because this was one night, one wild night that made my head spin and so far it hasn't stopped!!! On Wednesday night I attended the much anticipated "Free To Succeed" seminar in Los Angeles put on by no other than David Jay and Jasmine Star. You all remember how excited I was a few months back to meet Mike Colón and Jessica Claire at the Missional Photography class arranged by Dane Sanders. After that I thought I was pretty darn happy. Then DJ and Jasmine announce this tour and I thought "hollllllla!" (that was for you, Jasmine!)

So the day comes and I get there and immediately Jasmine and her wonderful husband, JD come up to me and she says hi and introduces her to me. I shake her hand back and introduce myself and think to myself "I don't just want to shake her hand, I know everything about her. I even know what she ate the other night in San Diego!" So I do what any friend would do and threw my arms around her and gave her a big hug. She was so gracious and wonderful and everything I expected her to be.

The seminar, for any of you living in cities it is coming to, was the bargain of a lifetime for the knowledge that was shared. DJ and Jasmine filled us with so much information on marketing, branding, how, to, why and why not that we all walked away with the tools we need to be hugely successful in photography. I was truly grateful to be sitting in that room. A room, by the way, in which many were sitting that made we want to jump up and down and scream. Becker, Robert Evans, Jules Bianchi, just to name a few. Jules is one lady I have wanted to meet for years. When I started in photography I quickly found her website and blog and literally studied each and every image she posted as I was so mesmerized by her work. So, to meet her was quite special to me. Here is a long-awaited photo of the two of us together.

I find myself in a world surrounded by people I have come to not only love, but deeply respect. One thing that David Jay brought out that has resonated in me every since that evening is that we all need in this life to encourage one another and lift each other up. The greatest joy I could ever have when I look back someday at the end of my career is that I helped others achieve their dreams through encouragement as so many have done for me. What could be better than that?

Jillian and Michael

On Saturday I had the pleasure of 2nd shooting for the wedding of Jillian and Michael. They are such a lovely couple, you could just see how much they love each other. When I first arrived at her suite, Jillian was wearing a terry wrap and just looked so sweet standing in the doorway. I could just tell that she was going to be such a pleasure to work with, and I was right!!! She is sweet, elegant and was such a beautiful bride. The wedding was at the one and only Ritz Carlton in Dana Point and had a breathtaking view of the ocean. I can never get enough of the view at the Ritz, never.

This last shot was so fun! Actually it was Dave who found it. This was taken through one of the amazing floral displays and the reflection is of the main building of the Ritz Carlton. Pretty darn amazing!!!!!

Distinction

Yesterday was a pivotal day in the life of Cindy Meadors, professionally and spiritually. I woke up and as some people read the morning paper or watch the news, I read blogs. Blogs from some of my favorite photographers, what they are up to, events they recently shot, everything you can imagine. I, for some reason, wasn't in a particularly happy place yesterday morning and then read something that started changing both my heart and my spirit. No surprise that the first one came from one my favorite people and photographers, Mike Colón. Here's what Mike had to say:

"wide awake in a hotel room "

I'm on my back in a hotel room in the dark thinking about life. Its 4am on the East Coast and I'm still on West Coast time so I can't sleep.
Something Julie said to me last night before we went to bed is still ringing in my head. It was something she has never said to me before and it kinda felt weird hearing her say it. She said "You're big time." She's always told me how proud she is of me but has never straight up told me I am "big time" before. I have to admit that for a second it gave me a big head, but I quickly realized that everything we have accomplished in our business and in life has been 100% by the awesome and undeserved grace of God. Although we have worked extremely hard, I simply can't forget about the dozens of times God bailed us out of sure financial disaster!

This is what i know: Life is fragile! I screw up often! The more I live the more I realize that God is involved in every area of my life, holding it together so it doesn't crumble beneath me.

My secret to success: Get right with God (often). Pray every night for wisdom, blessings, forgiveness, safety, and to be used by Him. Remember to thank Him for everything good in your life!
Thank you Lord for my beautiful wife and two boys. Thank you for always taking care of us! Help me not to live in vain but to do your work and share your love with others.

My day started getting drastically better when I heard the "icing on the cake." It came from the incredible Dane Sanders through another amazing photographer, David Jay. David Jay will be traveling all over the country this summer and will be hosting a seminar called, "Free to Succeed." I am so excited to be attending this seminar and will have the opportunity to meet not only himself, but Jasmine Star. Oh, la, la!!! This is going to be one fantastic tour. I wish it was next week and not almost two months away, what a great opportunity it's going to be to listen to and learn from both of them.

David Jay was speaking on Dane's blog about Dane's upcoming book entitled "Fast Track Photographer ," due out very soon (Dane, I can't WAIT to read it!!) THIS is the line that has stirred up all sorts of things in me, it kept me up last night, all night. Couldn't sleep a wink thinking about it. It's profound, so write it down or better yet memorize it and say it to yourself all day long. Here goes:

"You must remember to be personally and professionally distinct in order to avoid extinction." In other words, what is it that sets you apart from the next person? Why should someone hire me, as opposed to hundreds or thousands of other photographers out there? That's the question I have been pondering for the last 24 hours. I'm going to leave it at that for now, meditate for a while on that thought and will post more tomorrow as I want to make sure I am able to identify specific things that are truly different about me than anyone else. Stay tuned, you know.......this is the kind of thing that changes the course of one's life.

A New Era

As a photographer, you find joy in most every image you take. Some are good, some are very good and some absolutely make your heart sing. Well, this one is making me sing like a bird. I happen to love the subject of this photo more than I can say. He's my son, my first born, and he's moving on to high school. Can't believe it, the time has gone by so fast!!!! It seems like yesterday he was crawling around in diapers, playing with Hot Wheels, just a toddler. Now, you're all grown up!

Is it me, or is he incredibly handsome? I just wanted to give him a shout out and tell him how very proud I am of him and that his mom is crazy about him. My son, may God always bless you!!

Second Shooting

I am blessed to in addition to my own work to have the opportunity to be a second shooter. It rocks, it really does. There's NO pressure on you to produce all the standard images for the bride and groom. No, the second shooter gets all the icing on the cake. You get the shots that sometimes get missed because the main shooter can't be everywhere at all times. These are a few shots that I took last weekend. The first one is of a lovely lady and her beautiful baby. I love the look on her face and how the soft light coming through the window just beautifully covered her. Enjoy!

Why I Love Dogs

It is safe to say that I am absolutely crazy about dogs, almost to the point of ridiculous. I love them, all of them. I go up to dogs that I have just met and after a few moments I find myself kissing them like they belong to me. They aren't called "man's best friend" without reason. It's because they are loyal to their owners and family through and through. My dog, Jonah, is one of the brightest rays of light in my life, other than God and my family and friends. I adore him and he has brought me so much joy. I decided to spotlight some special dogs I have photographed lately and will continue on a regular basis to showcase special animals in my life and business. Another division of Cindy Meadors Photography called "Pawsitively Priceless" is soon to come and will be all about dogs. How awesome is that!!!!!!

This first one, of course, is of my darling Jonah. He is really something!

This little angel is an adorable Maltese named "Emmett." He is like a huge ball of fluff!!!

I ran into this dog in downtown Santa Ana, he was just going for this soda like crazy. I was using a 85mm f/1.2 lens. Everything I have heard about this lens is true. It's like "butter!!!!"

This dog was just hanging out at a photo shoot I was at and couldn't resist.

Oh please, somebody pinch me!!!!!

WOW!!!! Last night was the end of the most amazing 4 weeks spent with three of the finest photographers on this planet. I almost can't believe it but I have the pictures to prove it. I don't know where to begin to express what this class meant to me. It touched me in so many ways and on so many levels, my spiritual side, my creative side and the part of me that was just so darn excited to meet Jessica Claire and Mike Colón. Luckily for me I get to see Dane Sanders on a regular basis as he is a pastor (and an amazing one) at my wonderful church, ROCKharbor. For some attending this class, they were meeting him for the first time and were surely in awe of his pastoral gifts and his loving heart. All I can say is I am blessed to have been a part of the last 4 weeks.

For those of you who are interested in serving in a missions capacity, ROCKharbor has launched it's summer program called the GO Campaign in which 2000 people from our church last year gave themselves away and either donated money or went on one of these trips and made a difference in thousand of lives and many worthy causes across the world. If you are interested please check out the serving opportunities here.

Below are my images being critiqued by Dane, Jessica & Mike. It was scary and thrilling at the same time!! The assignment was to take two portraits, one being a stranger and the other someone you know. They first tried to match up which two images went to the same photographer and then decided who was the stranger and who was the person we knew. It was a fun assignment as I got to meet a very lovely young lady who became the subject of my stranger photo.

We've lost one of the great ones

Danny Federici, the most instinctive and natural musician I ever met and the only member of the band who can reduce me to a shouting mess. I love you Danny. Your organ and accordion playing brought the boardwalks of Central and South Jersey alive in my music. Thank you. -- Bruce Springsteen

For those of you who never got to see this man perform, take my word for it that he was extraordinary. I have spent the majority of my adult life listening to and following on tour the music of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. So it is only fitting to pay tribute today to the great Danny Federici, he is irreplaceable in the hearts of all his fans. Danny took a leave of absence a few months ago from the tour to fight the melanoma full time. I was at Bruce's concert at the L.A. Sport Arena and got to see Danny right before he left. I knew in my spirit that he was gravely ill even before it was announced, he just didn't look good. During the show I lifted my hand towards him several times and quietly prayed. It was painful to see him that way and if I knew that was going to be the last time I saw him it would have been unbearable. I am thankful I had that last concert with him. I pray that he is with our Lord and is no longer in pain.

On behalf of all his fans around the world, "Phantom Dan Federici," may you rest in peace forever.

Well, as the title hints I have been doing lots of headshots lately and may I add that I just LOVE doing it. Not only are these people beautiful but they are all so nice and wonderful to work with. Most of them are actors and I wish them all huge success in the entertainment world. I just love how we are all so unique and have special features that are inherent to only us, having the opportunity to capture that is such a thrill. If you have to work, do what you love. This is truly what I love!!!

Lauren & Andy's Wedding Day

Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 ~ the wedding of Lauren and Andy was held at the beautiful Islands Hotel in Newport Beach. It was a beautiful, sunny day and a great time was had by all. I am so fond of this couple, they are very special and have known each other since they were 13 years old. The day was filled with so much love, it was apparent how close both the bride and groom are with their families. It was fun to be part of the beginning of the rest of their lives together. My favorite shot is the one of the father/daughter dance. The look on her dad's face was priceless and what I wouldn't give to have had that picture and that dance with my dad. My dad was in the hospital on my wedding day and I didn't get to have that moment with him. I hope that for Lauren that photo is one that she will treasure always. Best of luck to both of you!!!!

It's finally here - the launch of CINDYMEADORS.COM !!!

I can't quite believe it! After months of hard work and many long hours at the computer, my website is finally done! I just wanted to say a big "thank you" to so many of you who have allowed me to use photos I have taken over the last year or so and use them on my site. It's truly been a pleasure getting to know so many of you and each and every shoot I have been on has in it's own way been unique and memorable. I LOVE my clients and have so much fun with them, there's nothing more fun that being a photographer. I know I've said that a hundred times before but I just LOVE MY JOB!!!!

Check out my site when you get a chance and I would love any feedback you would like to give me. Keep checking back periodically as I am going to be constantly changing, updating and adding new galleries as events take place. Charley and Joe

I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding on Saturday at the ultra beautiful St. Regis Hotel in Monarch Beach. It was a beautiful day despite all the storms that were expected and you can see Charley was a spectacular bride. I have been working round the clock to get my website up and running and to all of you who have been so wonderful in giving me feedback as to which photos you like best for my home page, it is much appreciated. Women's tennis superstars - watch out Venus and Serena!

I took these photos yesterday of these adorable girls playing tennis. Tennis is a sport my entire family plays, we love it and both my kids doing very well at it. I find it to be a sport that if you learn to play it at a young age you will play it for the rest of your life (of if you're like me until your elbow gives out!) I made the decision to give it up for the sake of photography, so now I just enjoy watching and taking pictures of others playing. Here are a few.

My goodness,
How long has it been since I have blogged??? Isn't it amazing how time just flies by! I have an enormous amount of catching up to do, that's for sure. I'm sure you all think I vanished off the face of the earth but I have actually been very busy with photography, but mostly with Photoshop and finally taking the time to perfect my skills. Of course, school started in September and have been busy with the kids and can't believe how quickly summer flew by. Now it's almost Thanksgiving and Christmas and there will be so many great pictures to share over the next few months, I'm sure.

Today I got to do what I love most, shoot at the beach. I LOVE rolling around on the sand, taking photos at sunset. It was a perfect overcast day, the sweet couple (best of luck to you, Andy and Lauren) were so much fun to work with. Needless to say, I am in awe of how incredibly fun and exhilarating it is to be a photographer and capture special moments in peoples lives. It's an honor to be a part of something special and I truly love it. Here's one from today!

The gondolas and the day I met Tim Salmon

What an amazing week!!!! Wherever do I start to explain it. It was VBS week at my church and I was signed up to be a counselor. For those of you that don't know what VBS means, it's "vacation bible school." On the very first day I met a wonderful man who was my co-leader of my group of 12 kids. As it turned out Greg is the owner of Gondola Adventures and needed someone to photograph his gondolas for an upcoming book. What a night it turned out to be! The boats were beautiful and such a delight to shoot, they are elegant and glide through the water with magnificent splendor.

While shooting I ran into one of my girls from my VBS group with her family. Who is standing there with her family but Tim Salmon, the greatest Anaheim Angel (no, I won't say of L.A. because I still think that's crazy!) of all time. He's THE Angel, the King Fish, #15, who I absolutely love. He's a humble man, who spent his entire career as an Angel, something you never see anymore. Over the years I heard countless stories about his heart, his spirit, how he shares his faith and how he was devoted to his wife (she's a wonderful lady!) and his family. So to meet the man was truly an honor for me, of course I was in the middle of a shoot so it was only for a moment. In that moment so many images came to my mind; sitting behind him in game 6 of the World Series, that infamous game in which the Angels came from behind to win and to then go on to win game 7 and take the title. I can still see him standing there with his head down and seemed so sad that his team was losing. Then to remember the very next day when they won and he was appropriately given the trophy to run with around the field. I remember that vividly; he was beaming from ear to ear and in honor of the late owner of the Angels, Gene Autry, he wore a cowboy hat and tipped it in remembrance of Mr. Autry. What a class act! There will never be another Angel like him again. Thank you, Tim, for making my day. Even if you don't like hearing it, you're still the greatest Angel that has ever lived and you will forever be missed.

I was truly blessed all week by those kids, there's nothing better than to make a difference in the life of a child.

Happy 4th of July!

4th of July in our family means two things: great day of fun and games and tennis! We always start and end our day at the Mesa Verde Country Club in Costa Mesa where they put on a spectacular tennis event. The event ends with a game of "Around the World" and the first photo is of this year's winner (she looks pretty happy, doesn't she!!) It's bath time for Jonah!

Yes, I'm sure you have figured out by now that I am head over heals in love with my dog, Jonah. He is by far the best dog anyone could ever own, however, yesterday we determined that he was also the stinkiest dog and he needed a bath. So my husband pulls out a huge rubbermaid container and this is what I walked into on my patio. It only took me about 10 seconds to run and get the camera to capture it all. It was absolutely hysterical, we all couldn't stop laughing. Jonah turns 6 tomorrow (at least that's the day we have designated as his birthday as he was rescued) so Happy Happy Birthday to you, my sweet doggie!

I spent my Easter Sunday with my family, friends and my church. The service was at the Pacific Ampitheatre and was absolutely wonderful. An added bonus was that I got to do what I love best, take pictures. The kids were just adorable all dressed up in their Easter clothes, I couldn't get over how precious they all were. A day at the park with friends

I spent a lovely afternoon yesterday with my beautiful friend, Carrie, and her darling son. We chose a park nearby and had the best time taking pictures. I was so sick, but somehow taking photos made me forget all about it. That's when you know you have it bad for something, when you're really too sick to do it but can't stand the thought of passing up an opportunity to do what you love. Of course when you are photographing some as lovely as Carrie it's effortless, she can't take a bad picture. It dawned on me yesterday that what I'm doing is making memories for people, memories that will always be with them as long as these photos exist. What an absolutely awesome thing!

The unexpected great ones

I took this photo the other day and was blown away by how it turned out. This wasn't done in a studio, just against a wall but turned out spectacular. It doesn't hurt to have such a beautiful model either! This photo reminds me of the joy I feel when taking pictures, the utter joy. This one will remain in my family for years to come and when she is grown we will all look back on it and remember how lovely she was at such a young age.

A touch of photojournalism

These photos were taken of my fantasic hairdresser, Lanette, while she was intensely cutting my friend's daughter's hair. I took both of these shots with a mirror behind the subjects. It's just precious to see this beautiful child with her hands folded in the first photo and the sweet look on her face with her eyes looking down as Lanette cuts her bangs in the second shot. I made them into black and white to place the emphasis on Lanette's face and just how deeply she places
her focus on her clients. Lanette, you are the best!!!

Hi everyone,

I took this photo of my daugher at a park on Sunday, we had such a great day together. She is so photogenic and loves everything having to do with photography. It looks like someday I'll have someone to pass all of this down to. My kids are the lights of my life and taking photos of them and capturing their childhood is what it's all about. She is growing up so fast!!!!! If I don't mind saying so she is absolutely adorable!
